2012 NBA BOARD OF DIRECTORS NOMINEES
C. Dewey Branstetter
C. Dewey Branstetter is the managing member of Branstetter,
Stranch, & Jennings, PLLC. He received both his BA (1978) and his
JD (1981) from Vanderbilt University.
Branstetter’s past involvement with the NBA includes serving as Vice
Chairman and Chairman of the Candidate and Incumbent Evaluation
Committee and Vice Chairman of the Civil Rights Law Committee. He has been
a hearing officer for the Board of Professional Responsibility and is a Fellow of the
Nashville Bar Foundation. He was a member of the Metro Nashville Board of Public
Education for 11 years, serving as its chairman for three. His past civic activities have
also included membership on the boards of the Center for Nonprofit Management,
Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee, E-911/Emergency Communications District,
Junior Achievement, Metropolitan Nashville Public Education Foundation, Middle
Tennessee Chapter of the March of Dimes, Nashville Alliance for Public Education,
Nashville Public Television Council, and Our Kids, Inc. He is currently the chairman of
the Metropolitan Charter Revision Commission.
Primary interests include ensuring that people of limited means have access to the
legal system, mentoring of younger lawyers, maintaining a collegial atmosphere in our
legal community, and increasing participation in Nashville Bar Association activities.
