Hon. Randal S. Mashburn is a U.S. Bankruptcy Judge for the Middle District of Tennessee. Before going on the bench earlier this year, his practice focused on bankruptcy and commercial litigation, and he was a frequent mediator as well as court-appointed examiner and Chapter 11 trustee. He received his undergraduate degree from the University of Tennessee in 1976 and his J.D. from the University of Memphis in 1982.

Judge Mashburn is a Fellow of the Nashville Bar Foundation. He has been very active on several NBA committees and is a past chair of the NBA Bankruptcy Court Committee as well as heading up subcommittees dealing with CLE and local rules. He has been a speaker at dozens of seminars, including numerous CLE programs sponsored by the NBA. He is a founding member and past president of the Tennessee Association of Professional Mediators and is a past president of the Mid-South Commercial Law Institute. He is also a current board member of the Nashville Conflict Resolution Center, which provides pro bono and low cost mediation services.

Particular areas of interest include alternative dispute resolution, civility in the litigation process, and the role of technology in providing greater access to justice.
