ThompsonOverton Thompson, III

Overton Thompson, III is with Bass, Berry & Sims PLC. He received
his undergraduate degree from the University of the South in 1981 and
his J.D. from Vanderbilt in 1984.

Thompson is past Chair of the Nashville Bar Association Dispute Resolution Committee and past Chair of the Tennessee Bar Association Litigation Section. He is also a past President of the Board of Directors of Monroe Harding Children’s Home and Past President of the Board of Directors of Travellers Rest Historic House and Museum. He is currently President of the Men of Valor Board of Directors, a member of the Executive Board of the Boy Scouts of Middle Tennessee and an Elder at First Presbyterian Church.

Particular areas of interest include finding ways to provide mentoring opportunities and housing for newly released inmates from the Davidson County Detention Facility, promoting collegiality within the Bar, fostering relationships between the Bench and the Bar, and pro bono initiatives in the large firms.
