The Team Act, One Year Later: procedures and resolutions

WHO SHOULD ATTEND: State government and private practice attorneys, in addition to mediators, who want learn how disciplinary procedures have been implemented under the TEAM Act, and the ways in which mediation can be utilized as a resolution to employee-employer issues.


In 2012, Governor Haslam signed the TEAM Act and forever changed employment in the public sector.  Included in those changes is the procedure for disciplinary actions, specifically the responsibility for disciplinary actions and the progressive steps required under the TEAM Act.   Brigitte Tubbs-Jones, from the Department of Human Resources, will discuss the reality of implementing the changes under the TEAM Act, and the aspects of the disciplinary procedure that differ from our expectations a year ago.

Developed as an aid to expedite the administration of the TEAM Act for employee complaints and as an alternative in the resolution of employee disciplinary actions, mediation is a voluntary option available to government employees.
