Business and legal writing have changed more rapidly in the last decade than at any time in the last four centuries!

Lawyers are communicating with clients and each other far differently than their mentors did – and far differently than how they were taught in law school.  Many need help making the transition.

Gone are the long flowing email messages with pretty graphics and lots of attachments.  Today, electronic communication has to be immediate, brief, clear and powerful.  Designed to boost your instant – or near instant – messaging drafting skills, Steven Stark’s session examines the ways in which lawyers’ traditional training in writing and communication ill-prepares them for this new age of “short and to the point.”

You will benefit knowing:

  1.           1. The “dos and don’ts” for writing email to clients and within the office
  2.           2. How the communications revolution is changing legal argument
  3.           3. Drafting in the e-age
  4.           4. The use of graphics in legal documents
  5.               And More!

More than any other profession, the practice of law depends on the effective use of words, communication, and persuasion.

Whether you are called upon to make a presentation to clients, give legislative testimony, or comments to the press, you’ll come to understand what makes a great speaker effective and discover how to use those techniques yourself.  This multi-media, multi-disciplinary program includes fun, practical and improvisational exercises designed to improve your skills and conquer anxiety.  Whether you’re a trial lawyer or give the occasional presentation, you’ll take away concrete ideas that you can use immediately.

You will benefit knowing how to:

  1.           1. Write a speech or testimony to get your message across
  2.           2. Improve your voice, appearance and delivery
  3.           3. Respond to questions without hesitation and improve your delivery
  4.           4. Deal with a hostile or indifferent audience
  5.           5. Utilize humor to your advantage
  6.           6. Use and misuse PowerPoint
  7.           7. Employ strategies when appearing on TV or before the press
                  And More!
