OVERVIEW:  Whether it’s called the “subprime crisis,” the “subprime meltdown” or sometimes simply the “subprime mess,” anyone keeping up with the news in even a cursory manner has been inundated with references to the “subprime”
problems. But what is it really all about, and what does it mean for your practice?

The meltdown in the subprime industry has had an impact far beyond consumer home loans. This program will provide an overview of the problem and address some of key issues affecting the legal profession.

FIND OUT ABOUT:

  • How did we get to this point? The evolution of Securitization of Home Mortgages
  • Contributing factors to the subprime meltdown;
  • “Predatory lending practices” and their effect on the subprime problems
  • Federal and State proposed legislation and regulations on the subject;
  • The explosion of litigation relating to subprime issues
  • How the subprime problems have implications for many practice areas, including real estate, lending, bankruptcy, litigation, business transactions and taxes
