Temporary/Contract Placement

The need for a temporary legal professional can arise suddenly. We stand ready to meet that need with a proven contract legal professional base. All candidates for temporary placement must meet the same qualifications required of persons seeking regular full-time employment. We specialize in providing temporary support for attorneys, paralegals, legal secretaries and receptionists. Whether you need someone to cover for a legal secretary out for a week on vacation or you need 50 contract attorneys to conduct a document review, we can assist you with high quality professionals.

Fees for temporary placements are based on the hourly wage of the employee.

Full-Time Placement Procedures

As with our temporary services, we also provide full time placement services for attorneys, paralegals, legal secretaries and other legal support staff. With our already established database of candidates we have access to many hard to find candidates who are looking for that next opportunity.

All candidates, both temporary and permanent, go through our thorough Quality Assurance process. This includes verifying education, all licenses, and checking references. For Permanent placement we also verify all past employment. Additional screening is also available at the client’s request. These services include: Background check, Foreign Language Assessments, and Writing Samples.

Conflicts screening is another tool often requested by our clients. Whether requested by the client or not, we strongly advise every candidate to keep a complete and accurate list of all matters worked on over the course of their career in order to avoid professional conflicts.

For all legal staff we require testing on the most current software (Microsoft Office), and typing. Applicants then undergo an interview process and reference check. Only the most qualified of these applicants are placed into our database for placement. Additional assessments are available by client request.

LPS strives to provide not only the best price in full-time and temporary support staff but also to maintain the greatest customer service to our employers.

The fee for our permanent placement service is determined by the first year salary of the candidate. For Attorneys the fee is 25%, paralegals is 20% and legal secretaries and other legal support staff is 15% of the first year salary. After the fee is determined, all NBA members will receive a 10% discount on that fee. For non-NBA members, the fees remain the same. These fees are highly competitive.

LPS gives personal attention to each member, employer and applicant. By serving the Nashville legal community we maintain a personal relationship with all our employers. Confidentiality to both employers and employees is assured.

Candidates

Thank you for your interest in finding a position through The Legal Placement Service of the Nashville Bar Association. We specialize in positions in the legal field as a service to our members. All candidates seeking a position must first submit a resume. After reviewing your resume and credentials, if your qualifications meet the placement needs of our employers, we will contact you to schedule an interview and complete skills testing. We are always seeking individuals with a solid work history and previous experience in a legal setting.

Depending on the type of position you are seeking, the interview process can last from 30 minutes to an hour. You will be required to fill out an application where you will have to provide at least 2 former supervisor references. You will also be asked to list all degrees and licenses you have, as well as, past employment.

Once the interview and paperwork are completed, your information is entered into our system. We will always call you before submitting your resume to the Employer. We want to be sure the match is made both from the employee and employers point of view. The process of matching your skills begins immediately! Temporary candidates are required to meet the same standards as those seeking full-time employment. You must be available on short notice as the need for temporary support arises suddenly.
