2019 LUNCH WITH THE JUDGES CLE SERIES

We are pleased to announce the 2019 Lunch with the Judges CLE series featuring Chancellors and Judges. The NBA will provide pizza and salad lunch at 11:30am. From 12:00 to 1:00pm, there will be an hour-long seminar related to courtroom practice with opportunity for questions.


The 10th Lunch with Judges CLE presenter is the Honorable Judge Rachel L. Bell, General Sessions Court, Division VIII; Founder and Presiding Judge for the General Sessions Music City Community Court (Music City Community Court). She will address issues and provide tips on practicing before the General Sessions Court along with her experiences hanging your own shingle to running for office, serving on the General Sessions Court Judiciary and birthing the first Community Court in the State, right here in Nashville, Tennessee, Davidson County.

In addition, Judge Bell will share information about the 2018 Community Court Grant received with the US Department of Justice, Bureau of Justice Assistance and the Center for Court Innovation, to launch the C.A.R.E. (Creating Avenues for Restoration & Empowerment) Diversionary Court for adults ages 18-26. The Music City Community Court is one of five courts in the nation to receive the 2018 Community Court Grant, the other courts are located in Wilmington, Delaware; Fort Lauderdale, Florida; Reno Municipal Court, Nevada; and Puyallup, Washington.

History – General Sessions Music City Community Court, Division VIII (8) was founded by Judge Rachel L. Bell in 2012.

Mission – To create initiatives focused on preventative, restorative, and diversionary justice centered around the concept that, “Justice does NOT stop at the courthouse steps!!” TM

Vision – Charged to do all it can to help break the playground to prison pipeline; to restore and rehabilitate lives by using its power and resources to move the needle for marginalized people.

Cancellation Policy
Cancellation

Refund or credit will not be issued after November 14; however, a substitute may attend for a registered participant.

For Easy Pass Holders, cancellation must be received by 5:00pm on November 14 to retain Easy Pass Hours. The Easy Pass is nontransferable and may only be used by the purchaser. Substitutes are not available to Easy Pass holders.
