As lawyers transition into leadership roles, they're often tasked with managing other attorneys, support staff, and interns — without formal management training.

This CLE provides practical tools for navigating that shift, building trust, communicating expectations, handling performance issues, and fostering a positive work environment. Whether you're a senior associate supervising a junior attorney or a partner managing a full team, this session equips you to lead with clarity and confidence.

Profile photo of Libbi Watson
Libbi Watson, Dix and Massey
For over 20 years, Libbi Watson has represented both individuals in personal injury and civil litigation matters, and major insurance companies in defending these types of actions. This gives Watson a unique perspective on how to assist individuals who have legitimate claims to recover compensation from those at fault. She recognizes that emotional and physical recovery is important and is here to protect her client’s interests and needs. For seven years, she served as the Managing Attorney for Geico’s staff counsel. She recently graduated with an LLM in Dispute Resolution from Pepperdine Law School.

Timothy L. Capria
Tim Capria, Husch Blackwell
Tim Capria assists clients, including major multinational brands, with overall management of their intellectual property portfolios. After initially pursuing a career in a life sciences laboratory, Capria realized that he wanted to work in a field where he could regularly interact with people — specifically, a role that would combine his scientific knowledge with client consulting and advising. Intellectual property law was a perfect fit, and after earning his law degree, he began assisting clients with patent prosecution. He later shifted the focus of his practice to trademark law. Capria provides trademark portfolio management and counseling to clients, including both the registration and filing of trademarks and the policing of potential mark infringement domestically and abroad. Many of the clients Capria represents have hundreds of trademarks worldwide, and he has a special focus on franchisors, consumer goods manufacturers and distributors, and entertainers and music artists.
