Fellows Program

The Nashville Bar Foundation ("NBF") Fellows Program was established in 1991 as a way for the bar to honor its colleagues who have contributed significantly to the community. This devotion to service to the client and to the public interest is one of the hallmarks of the program. Fellows are selected by their colleagues. Each "class" of Fellows is limited to approximately 2% of the bar in Nashville.

Each Fellow is honored at an annual black tie dinner. Fellows are asked to make a pledge of a $1,500 contribution to provide a means of support for the work of the Foundation. In the past, many Fellows have elected to make the $1,500 pledge and then pay it in five annual installments of $300 each. These contributions may be tax deductible as a charitable contribution since the NBF is a 501(c)(3) organization.

NBF Fellows Nomination Form

The Nashville Bar Foundation has made contributions to such programs as Hurricane Katrina Relief for attorneys who were forced out of their law practices and funding of the NBA Modest Means Program to provide reduced fee legal services to qualified low income individuals. The NBF also supported the NBA Law Day activities celebrating the 50th Anniversary of the Nashville Sit-In Trials. Each year, the NBF issues grants to several organizations that have mission statements relative to the Nashville Bar Foundation. Additionally, the NBF made a substantial grant for nine years to support the community affairs and diversity programs of the Nashville Bar Association. Since 2002, it has re-directed those same funds to the Nashville Pro Bono Program.
