Our committees evaluate important bar or court-related issues. By volunteering with us, you will not only become part of enhancing the local legal profession, but you will have the opportunity to build your professional network by forging lasting relationships with local, like-minded attorneys, develop and sharpen vital skills like leadership, collaboration, and team-building, and leverage career advancement opportunities—all while making a difference in the profession, our community, and your life.

Provides a forum and collegial opportunities for ADR practitioners—both neutrals and advocates. Monitors developments and makes recommendations on ADR rules and procedures in local courts. Serves as liaison between the courts and local ADR practitioners. Produces an annual CLE program on ADR topics. Works with community groups providing ADR.
Monitors activity of the Tennessee Appeals Courts. Makes recommendations on rules, practices, and procedure.
Monitors activity of the US Bankruptcy Courts and studies recommendations for improvements of bankruptcy law and court procedures. Acts as liaison between the Bankruptcy Courts and local bar.
Provides in-house lawyers and lawyers whose practice focuses on business transactions with educational and collegial opportunities for these two segments of the bar.
Monitors activity of the Chancery and Circuit Courts of Davidson County and makes recommendations regarding improvements in these courts. Functions as liaison between the courts and the local trial bar.
Recommends methods to improve the criminal justice system. Acts as liaison between the Police Department, Criminal Courts, District Attorney’s office and the local defense bar.
Provides a forum for employment and civil rights law practitioners.
Provides a special focus group for entertainment, sports, and media law practitioners.
Provides a focus group for environmental law practitioners.
Provides a focus group for estate planning practitioners.
Provides a focus group for family law practitioners
Federal Court
Monitors the activities of the U.S. District Courts for the Middle District of Tennessee. Acts as liaison between the federal courts and Nashville attorneys.
Monitors the activity of the Metropolitan General Sessions Court and studies plans for improvement in those courts. Acts as liaison between the 11 General Sessions judges and the local bar.
Provides a special focus group for government lawyers with educational and collegial opportunities for this segment of the bar.
Monitors developments in health law, including professional liability and hospital relations.
Assists in keeping its members abreast of developments and changes in the practice as well as assessing the impact of these developments on the immigrant community. Monitors current issues and problems in the immigrant community for the purpose of assessing the need for advocacy and/or action on behalf of the community.
Provides a forum for lawyers practicing in trademarks, patents, copyrights, licensing, and related litigation.
Real Estate Law
Provides a focus group for real estate practitioners.
A forum for solo and small firm attorneys from various practice areas and experience levels to network and collaborate on issues such as practice management, technology, and marketing.
Provides a special focus group for Nashville’s tax bar, keeping members abreast of new developments in tax law.

Provides education on attorney health and wellness, including triage training for attorneys and law firm staff that encounters clients or colleagues at risk for suicide, and assists Tennessee Lawyers Assistance Program (TLAP).
Promotes a positive image of attorneys in the community by conducting programs in schools and civic organizations and focusing on law-related subjects of public interest.
Provides employment opportunities, assists with career development and professional advancement, and increases the number of diverse students attending and successfully completing law school. Learn more here!
Fee Disputes
Collects materials relating to the history of the Nashville Bar. Acts as a resource group for historical study. Conducts annual memorial services for deceased members of the Nashville legal community. Includes the following subcommittees: Memorial Service, Oral History, Acquisitions, and Preservation. Lawyer Referral and Information Service
Meets bi-monthly to brainstorm and plan thematic issues of the Nashville Bar Journal, a members’ magazine containing articles of interest to the local bar.
Promotes civics, civility, and collaboration. The Committee connects lawyers with the community to engage actively with our democratic institutions, the judicial system, and the Rule of Law.
Plans delegation trips to and from Caen, France.
Offers the opportunity to meet new veteran friends in the bar, share experiences, and to serve other less fortunate veterans in the community.
