Learn about the laws passed by the 114th General Assembly in 2025 that will affect the practice of criminal defense in Tennessee. We will cover changes to juvenile law, bond considerations, DUI laws, expungement, restoration of voting rights, new offenses, the creation of the “Persistent Domestic Violence Registry,” and much more!

Chelsea Curtis, Tennessee District Public Defenders Conference
Chelsea Curtis is the Deputy Executive Director of the Tennessee District Public Defenders Conference; she serves as a liaison on behalf of the public defenders to the legislature. Ms. Curtis previously worked as an Assistant Public Defender in the 21st Judicial District, primarily in Williamson County Circuit Court, where she received acquittals in two jury trials acting as first-chair attorney. She received her bachelor's degree from the Middle Tennessee State University Honors College, where she was a Buchanan Fellow, in 2011, and her law degree from the University of Mississippi School of Law with a certification in Criminal Law with Honors in 2015.
