Summary
Crimmigration:
The Intersection of Immigration and Criminal Law

1.0 General Credit
*All-Access CLE 2025 Pass eligible program.
Since President Trump took office, stories in the media of deportation and ICE activity are ubiquitous, but then again, so are stories of undocumented immigrants committing crimes in the United States. Is the truth possibly somewhere in the middle, with both the right and left having good points but also false talking points? Hear from two experienced practitioners about what exactly it means to give due process in immigration proceedings, adverse consequences for individuals with criminal records, and the reality of how immigration proceedings unfold in federal court. This session will also explore the ethical responsibilities attorneys face when representing non-citizen clients, especially in navigating complex legal systems with potentially life-altering outcomes.
