Navigating AI in Law Firms: Strategy, Solutions, and Ethics

1.0 Dual Credit
*All-Access CLE 2025 Pass eligible program.

This session equips law firm administrators and attorneys with a timely, practical framework for understanding, adopting, and ethically implementing artificial intelligence in legal practice. As AI tools such as ChatGPT, CoCounsel, and Lexis+ AI become integrated into mainstream legal workflows, firms face increasing pressure to balance innovation with security, ethics, and operational readiness.

The program is organized into three key areas:

1. Strategic Roadmap for AI Adoption
A step-by-step approach to:

  • Assess your firm’s current use of AI

  • Identify high-impact use cases (e.g., research, drafting, invoicing)

  • Prioritize training and change management

  • Ensure secure implementation of AI-powered solutions

2. Survey of Legal AI Tools
An exploration of widely adopted and emerging AI solutions in the legal industry, including:

  • How firms of various sizes are deploying them

  • Considerations for data privacy, system integration, and ROI

3. Ethical and Regulatory Considerations
A review of how AI intersects with ABA Model Rules—Competence, Confidentiality, and Supervision—and best practices for:

  • Disclosure and transparency

  • Data protection

  • Bias reduction

Learning Objectives
By the end of this session, participants will be able to:

  • Understand the current and projected impact of AI on legal workflows

  • Build a practical roadmap for safe and effective AI adoption in law firms

  • Evaluate leading AI tools for legal research, drafting, and automation

  • Identify and mitigate ethical risks associated with AI use
